This book is about Lily’s development and growth as a woman and as her own person. While living with the calendar sisters she begins to gain more confidence in herself and in life. When she first arrives she lies to the sisters afraid of what they would do to her if they knew the truth. Ever since her mothers death she had been hiding herself from the world because of T Ray. I think she lies to the sisters because she feels comfort in her lies.
